8. Audio Postcards

Mixing in Sheffield
Posted from Sheffield
Received in London
Another response to limited live connection was releasing the first Mono Works album as a series of audio postcards, forming a tacit audio and visual connection with my listeners. The cards were released through Bandcamp and sent out with a unique download code for the tracks. This was accompanied by one of eight pieces of artwork, reflecting the visual atmospheres that have inspired my music creation in Sheffield. From audio postcards to live streaming and radio shows, I’ve become interested in the wider social narrative around music production. With this in mind I have an interest in the modules that Goldsmiths offers outside the music department, particularly Music as Communication and Creative Practice. I’d be keen to reflect on my own sonic experiences alongside a wider platform of research and context.
Going forward, I am keen to continue my practice as a musician who draws inspiration from visual and architectural subjects. I’m stimulated by the opportunities the programme offers in connection to my areas of interest, alongside the chances to connect and collaborate within the wider context of London, a city which I look forward to exploring and becoming immersed. In past trips I have dipped into the delights and intrigue of London’s south east, so have an inkling of what is in store. However I look forward to my preconceptions being surpassed.
